Exploring Niue

Discovery Leeward Tour
Your Niuean tour guides will introduce you to the island and take you on a tour to some of Niue's better known spots on the western side from Avatele to Hikutavake Villages. This is more than just a tour of introduction. You will learn from your indigenous guides something of the island's early history, it's relationship with NZ, it's people, language and culture, it's flora and fauna. As a prelude of things to come, hop into the water at Matapa Chasm for a quick swim in unbelievably crystal clear waters. Allow Approximately 3.5 to 4 hours.

The tour departs Saturdays and Wednesdays from the Information Centre in Alofi at 8:35am, Matavai Motel at 8:45am and Matavai Resort at 9:00am. The tour vehicle is a 10-seat mini-bus which allows for better interaction with the guide. Cold drink and nibbles provided. Certain level of mobility is necessary to negotiate some of the tracks included in the tour. Not recommended for really young children.
